Frequently Asked Questions

What does "Fully Managed" WordPress hosting cover?

This simply means we take care of all maintenance of your WordPress website.  We will ensure the WordPress core software and associated plugins are up to date, performance is optimal and everything is backed up.  Our goal is to completely manage your WordPress website so you can concentrate on running your business.

Do you provide email hosting?

We dot not provide email hosting, but can help you set up and migrate your email to Google Apps email or Microsoft Office 365 email.  Please contact us for a quotation for migrating your email.  There is no fee for setting up either of these services for new and existing WordPress hosting customers.

Do you provide SSL security certificates free of charge?

Yes we do.  Security is at the forefront of everything we do, which is why we don’t charge extra for SSL certificate installation and maintenance.  An SSL certificate installed on your website shows the connection is secure and all data transferred is encrypted.  It’s extremely important to have your website traffic encrypted if you have a eCommerce website or have customers submitting information via forms.

Google also provide a search ranking boost to websites that implement SSL certificates in order to encrypt traffic.  As a result, it’s a good idea to use SSL certificates for any website – you can learn more by clicking here.

In addition, from 2017 onwards, the Google Chrome browser will display a “Not secure” warning for non-encrypted websites as shown below:

No doubt other web browsers will also start highlighting insecure websites in a similar way.  This is another great reason why your website needs an SSL certificate installed.

Do you have tiered pricing plans?

Unlike other WordPress hosting providers, we don’t confuse our customers with complex pricing plans riddled with technical jargon. We have very simple pricing for our fully managed WordPress hosting service at $30 per month, which suits the vast majority of New Zealand websites.

High-traffic websites or websites that host a large amount of media may require a tailored hosting solution.  If this is the case with your website, we’d love to speak with you and provide a tailored WordPress hosting quotation.

Do you provide website hosting for other Contact Management Systems (CMS)?

We only provide WordPress hosting services as this is all we have done since 2008.  WordPress is easily the most widely-used and powerful CMS available which is why we’ve chosen to focus our efforts on learning all aspects of WordPress.

If  you are not happy with your current non-WordPress website and are thinking of moving to WordPress, please see our WordPress Conversion service page for more information or contact us for a chat!

Can you update my websites on my behalf?

Absolutely!  We have several customers who choose not to update content themselves.  Minor and infrequent changes are free of charge.  We provide quotations in advance of starting any larger/more complex changes.

Do you provide WordPress training?

Yes, we do.  We typically enable our customers to be confident with creating and updating content within WordPress.  For some people this could be as little as 30 minutes, for others it can be longer – we have different approaches for various levels of ability.

Can you make my website mobile-friendly?

Yes, we do this often for new WordPress hosting customers who have an existing website that wasn’t designed and/or optimised for viewing on mobile devices.

Considering on average more than 50% of website visits are from mobile devices, it’s essential your website is able to be viewed easily on a smaller screen.  In addition, having a mobile-friendly website is now a major factor that Google takes into consideration for search rankings when a search is performed on a mobile device.

Not sure if your website is mobile friendly?  Try the Google Mobile-Friendly test to find out.

How can I test the current performance of my website?

The initial website response time and page loading times are taken into consideration when Google ranks your website.  Website performance is subjective depending on where someone is located, the speed of their internet connection, their Internet Service Provider and of course maintenance, hosting and tuning of the website.

We recommend testing your website with the following test services:

The test results from these services are reasonably self explanatory, essentially you want to aim for a page load time of less than 2 seconds, an A or B grade and a overall rating above 80%.

If you find the test results are not satisfactory for your website, please get in touch as we can assist with our WordPress performance tuning service or you may want to consider our WordPress hosting service which includes performance tuning as standard.
